Internet Survival Guide

Internet is a world where a lot of people connected to the others. Crimes is also entering the cyberspace, because wherever there is human exist, the crime is also exist. So, what we have to do is to prepare ourself so we won't be a victim of the crime.
The first rule in making action in Internet is : "Do not trust everyone". We can't just give our trust without having an assurance to it. Remember that Internet is cyber space where people around the world using it, including the criminals.
While holding on to that principles, another prevention step we can do is :
  1. Protect your computer with best known antivirus. Norton or McAfee is a good choice, but if you want the free one, you can use AVG Free or Avast. And don't forget to update the virus definition regularly.
  2. Installing anti adware is another smart choice. It prevent the adware to steal information form our computer and it also can clean infected computer. One of the best anti adware that I know is Ad Aware.
  3. Use browser with the latest version update. My recommendation is Firefox or Opera.
  4. Installing firewall is also a good choice. It can prevent you from unwanted incoming connection. And in my experience, it also prevent us from trojan horse.
  5. Do not ever go to an Internet banking site through the link provided by the email you got. It's really dangerous, because a link is also a tool used by "bandits" to steal your banking information. Old fashion way is the best choice. Always type the address in your browser address bar.
  6. Do not rashly install software from the Internet. Downloading software from trusted source is the best option. Download.Com is my recommendation.
  7. Avoid using the same password or username (recently used password and username) for every account that you have. Someone can steal information (including the password you provide) by giving interesting offer which require you to register. And if "the bandits" already know your recent password, they can use it to log on to another service you registered with like paypal, etc. So, protect yourself carefully.
